Location Ideas in South Dakota
If you are wanting an adventure session in South Dakota, then this is for you! When you are visiting these locations, please be respectful to other visitors, natural, and the rules of the park. Stay on the trails, pick up after yourself, and leave it how you found it. Now, let’s talk about some of my favorite locations throughout South Dakota. Here are location ideas for an adventure session in South Dakota.
Custer State Park
The first location is Custer State Park. This location is perfect to get the rolling hills of the Black Hills. Drive a little further into the park and check out Sylvan Lake. This lake is perfect for a canoe ride, stroll around the lake, and even a little dip to cool off. Custer State Park is also home to the famous Needles! Don’t forget to take the Needles Highway to see them! If you are wanting to stay in the park, Sylvan Lake Lodge is the best location! But, it is closed during the winter! However, you can stay pretty close to the park in Keystone at the Holiday Inn, which is also very close to Mt. Rushmore.
The Palisades State Park
The second location I am going to share with you is Palisades State Park in Garretson, SD. This location is perfect to get that red rock look of the Midwest. At this park, there is camping, cabins, trails, and more! Take a canoe down the river or throw out your fishing line! It is a perfect hidden gem in the heart of the midwest. Check out the lodge and cabins to stay right in the park, or stay at the Holiday Inn in Brandon, SD!
Badlands National Park
The third and final location is Badlands National Park. This location is unreal, to say the least. So much history, so much mystery. The Badlands is such a unique location, unlike anything else in the area. The clay-like formations bring warm neutral tones that look good all year round! You can stay inside the park in at the lodge, in Wall at a few different hotels, or in Rapid City (about an hour and a half from the park) at a few different hotels!
